Very good information. First half of the training covered some history of how we got to where we are today. How the "Political Machine" continues to move along, getting bigger and stronger as the years go by. Second half, about running an effective campaign. The resources/tools available and their effectiveness. Then the action plan of the day, a letter to the editor or an effective letter to your representative or Governor. Time well spent. Nice to see new faces and catch up with those you have met before.

Discussed what is happening at the Capitol. Show your support of Governor Walker and your representatives by calling, emailing or writing them. Talked about the missing Senators. A petition for Mark Miller is already established. Will try to find more information and post. Met two new tea party members. Thanks for taking time out of your schedule to join us.

We discussed some of the progress being made towards our legislative agenda. The upcoming primary elections on Feb. 15th for supreme court, school boards, towns & villages. We talked about calling governor's office this coming week to let them know to let them know what budget cuts we would like to see. Scott Walker announced the fix to the budget just a few days ago.

Getting plans in place and working with other groups in Wi to hold our politicians accountable. I truly believe if we stick together and keep at it, we can make a difference. Very Exciting! "For those who have been sitting on the sidelines waiting for "what do we do now", get off the bench. This is your chance to shine!" (re-posted from John Meegan) Now really is the time to get involved!

I thought it was a vary good meeting last night. I think we moved the ball down the road a little more. But at the next meeting I would like to take some time and share my experiences at the Washington Rally. I think we have a good group that attended that rally, and if some could hear their experiences. Maybe we could get more to go to the Oconomowoc meeting, it would be good for as many of use to go as possible, it could put more focus to our plan. I believe if we teach them correct principles people will, and can govern them self’s. Duane Hanusa

Lots of good thoughtful questions and concerns. Both of the candidates did a nice job presenting their platforms and responding to our concerns. Looking forward to more Q&A sessions.

I think Dave Ross is the real deal. I think he would be the first Lt. Gov that I know that would come in to office with a real purpose in mind. He as a plan and a vision. I will strongly suport him. As far as Senate candidate Westlake is concerned, I don't feel as good about him he didn't get in to the best part of his thoughts (Tax Reform) until 50 minutes in to his presentation. If that was the heart of his message he did not present it as that. He also doesn't have an understanding of the Muslim religion if he thinks they could be appeased with money, or a better living standard by helping them build up their infarstructure ( they don't care), to them it is all about sending spirits to (Alla) (not spelled right) and they don't care if it is died or alive. For someone with a Military back round he needs to spend more time in school (or maybe not).

Dave Ross's knowledge on fiscal matters is impressive. I think I trust his common sense approach. If he could push our state government to be more fiscally responsible in even a few of the areas he mentioned that would be quite welcome. I need more information from Dave Westlake. Not sure he has accumulated the life experience for the U.S. Senate but am willing to keep an open mind.

Former Arizona Sheriff Richard Mack Coming to Baraboo on Tuesday Aug 24, 2010

Sheriff Mack was an inspiring speaker. I was really surprised at some of the facts that were brought out. The biggie being the Supreme Court's opinion that the states cannot be forced to enforce Federal laws. Of course the feds can withhold money to the states if they don't cooperate but that tactic comes under taxation which Congress can levy. The one problem I had was that it wasn't very well publicized. The 8:30 session for law enforcement people should have been publicized as open to the public. I came in at 9:45 and things were happening already. I feel I missed a lot. I also spoke to Chip Meister at the sheriff candidates' debate and he said he just heard of it that morning from somebody from Marquette County. All in all tho, a very good event. I thank Sheriff Mack for being here.

I thought Meister handled himself very well, and did not deviate from addressing the questions to the best of his ability. I am impressed with his attitude, his coolness under the pressure of the event, and his overall knowledge of the Sheriff's dept. It will be interesting to see the reaction to Steinhorst. Steinhorst does not have the wide experience within the dept. that Meister has, but that will come out when it's his turn I think. If it is possible we either need to get a PA system OR have a moderator that indicates who is to provide the next question and then make sure they stand and air their question loud enough for all to hear. The capability for all to hear was the only problem that I saw. Other than that I thought it was "5 star".

I felt he is knowledgeable and capable but I didn't feel he had strong leadership qualities. I want to see what Steinhorst has to say before I make up my mind.

The meeting was good with excellent attendance. Questions and answers were excellent and the time spent on both sides, gave a better understanding of what the Sheriff's Dept is now and how things would be handled in the future when elected. The shortcoming was the lack of hearing of the questions and answers as some in the back of the room could not hear either and required Mr. Meister to restate the questions. Hopefully this can be corrected in the future. Jack Meegan.

A slow start in the beginning and maybe some answers a little too long. I think Jack may want to better prepare his answers to convey his position on issues. However I felt he made it clear that he is fiscally conservative and felt that overall the vetting/interview session went well.

Enjoyed Mr. Cummings comments on the questions asked, however, felt that his explanations were too drawn out and could have been much shorter.

With all that is going on Thursday night along with the Sauk County Fair, attendance was good as only 6 members showed up. Discussion was general and did deal with the upcoming interview with Mr. Jack Cummings on 7-15 at 7 p.m. at Hootys, who is running for State Rep. for the 42nd district against Fred Clark. Hopefully attendance will be as good if not better for this meeting as we had for Dave Westlake, who is running for the Wisc. Senate.

I was rather pleased with the way it went. Couple of times I couldn't hear the questions very well, in the future we might have to see if there's a way we could have a loudspeaker system but maybe Hooty's doesn't have one. Either that or make sure question is repeated. Beyond that I liked the format; short intro, question and answer, no holds barred. Personally I pretty well liked Westlakes responses BUT we are not in this group to see that we all agree about everything. I think the point needs to be made that we all recognize that we will NOT all agree on every issue, but are here seeking truth, responsibility and the backbone to fight for what is right as well as understanding that there is nothing wrong with some disagreement. It is that sort of thing that might bring in people from BOTH parties as well as those that simply feel to be independent.
